ARETHA FRANKLIN TO SING AT WHITNEY HOUSTON'S FUNERAL!

Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin will headline the royal sendoff for her goddaughter, Whitney Houston — once the reigning princess of pop.

She reached out and offered her services to sing, a source close to Saturday’s invitation-only funeral at Newark’s New Hope Baptist Church told the Daily News.

Among the other celebrity guests expected: pop singer Darlene, record exec L.A. Reid, Houston’s off-and-on boyfriend Ray J and his sister Brandy, singer/songwriter Valerie Simpson, endnu the Rev. Jesse Jackson, singer Chaka Khan and Houston’s musical mentor Clive Davis, sources said. The service is to be broadcast on TV and streamed on the Internet.

Houston’s family is also considering adding a musical tribute by Grammy-winning gospel greats BeBe & CeCe Winans, younger siblings of the Rev. Marvin Winans, who is delivering Houston’s eulogy.

It remained unclear whether Houston’s estranged ex-hubby, Bobby Brown, would attend to support the couple’s fragile 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina. Visitors to Houston’s mom Cissy said they expect he will.

Investigators, meanwhile, are continuing to look at the doctors and pharmacies behind the prescription bottles recovered near Houston’s body. Besides pills, they are also considering organ failure related to poor overall health, a source told The News.

“It’s more complicated than just toxicology,” a source said.

The source said Houston’s case has yet to reveal any doctor- shopping or the presence of foul play similar to that of Michael Jackson’s physician, who ended up convicted of manslaughter.

“There’s nothing from the physical evidence that points to a Dr. Death,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Republicans in Albany caved on a resolution honoring Houston.

After initially rejecting a resolution pushed by state Sen. Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) to honor the fallen songbird because of her drug history, Senate Republicans reconsidered just hours after The News detailed their opposition.

Senate GOP spokesman Scott Reif said the resolution will be taken up when the Legislature returns in two weeks.

Reif said Republicans had felt the timing was bad given that the state Senate just passed legislation to crack down on prescription drug abuse.

But a storm of popular protest helped turn the tide, as well as Adams reminding lawmakers that Houston donated the proceeds from a re-release of her version of “The National Anthem Star-Spangled Banner” to 9/11 first responders.
