Legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her physicians to cancel all concerts and appearances for six months following a recent hospitalization.
Franklin, 68, was released Saturday after being hospitalized for several days at Detroit’s Sinai-Grace Hospital with an undisclosed medical condition, the Detroit Free Press reported Thursday.
“Doctors' orders have required her to cancel all concert and personal appearances through May 2011,” publicist Tracey Jordan told the Free Press.
Franklin had been scheduled to perform a Christmas-themed concert in Detroit on Dec. 9 and a pair of February shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The cancellations come after Franklin called off two concert appearances in Missouri and Virginia that had been scheduled for last week. In August, the singer canceled two concerts in New York following a fall that left her with two broken ribs.
