Angelina Jolie Files For Divorce From Brad Pitt

One of Hollywood’s most illustrious marriages didn’t go according to script.

Actress Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences, according to court documents obtained by the Daily News.

Jolie is seeking the split "for the health of the family," her attorney Robert Offer said Tuesday.

The 41-year-old film star was very displeased with how Pitt, 52, was raising their six children together, TMZ reports.

Jolie also reportedly grew tired of Pitt’s use of marijuana — and potentially alcohol as well — and felt those factors, coupled with an apparent “anger problem,” created an unfit environment for their kids, sources told TMZ.

In the court filing, Jolie asked for physical custody of all six kids, but requested the judge give Pitt visitation rights, according to the celebrity gossip site.

She did not request spousal support.

"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time," Pitt told People in a statement.

The split came as a shock to Jolie's father, actor Jon Voight, who told the Daily News he didn't see it coming.

"I’m really sad about this. I’m sending my love to Angie and the kids,” he said. “Obviously it must be something very serious.”

Pitt and Jolie, who have been together since 2004, married in August 2014. The relationship, dubbed "Brangelina" by fans, garnered public interest from the start, with many blaming Jolie as the reason for Pitt’s divorce from Jennifer Aniston in 2005.

Jolie, who denied ever having an affair with Pitt, has said they fell in love on the set of the 2005 action flick “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” In that film, the pair starred as a married couple who each, unbeknownst to one another, double as assassins.

The actress gave birth to the couple's first biological child, 10-year-old daughter Shiloh, in 2006, and welcomed twins Knox and Vivienne two years later. The star-powered pair also has three adopted children from Cambodia, Vietnam and Ethiopia, respectively.

Jolie and Pitt were last seen in public together at The Griddle Café in West Hollywood in July, where they celebrated their twins’ eighth birthdays.

This was the second marriage for Pitt, who wed Aniston in 2000. Jolie, meanwhile, was previously married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.

Jolie, who is also being represented by acclaimed celebrity attorney Laura Wasser, listed her official date of separation from Pitt as Sept. 15.
