Is there anyone they're NOT asking?
Sean "Diddy" Combs is the latest artist to be linked to the nation-wide search for a new "American Idol" judge, E! News reports, but Combs isn't particularly interested.
According to the site, producers for the singing competition show reached out to Combs, 42, to see if he might be interested in sliding into a seat at the judge's table, but multiple sources call the collaboration a "long shot."
E! News reports that a big part of the reason why it is unlikely Combs will take part in the show is because Fox might not be able to pay him what he's worth.
Earlier this week, sources confirmed to the Daily News’ Gatecrasher column that Pharrell Williams is already telling members of his Star Track Entertainment record label that he’s got the gig.
Williams is “super tight with Mariah and Randy,” according to the source.
"What you've got to realize is you've got to create a panel that gels," producer Nigel Lythgoe told E! News." A panel that makes sense together. It's not just about three individuals."
It was announced in July that Mariah Carey will be signing on as one of the show's judges, at a whopping $18 million, making her the highest paid judge on any music competition show, Us Weekly reports.
"As a singer, songwriter and producer, it's going to be fun and rewarding to help find new talent and give back to 'American Idol,'" Carey said in a statement.
Earlier that month, both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler put in their notices that they would not be returning for the coming season.
Other names that have been approached to fill out the judges' panel include Miley Cyrus, Brad Paisley, Adam Lambert, Nicki Minaj, Pink and Nick Jonas.
