Alleged Scam Artists Arrested For Booking Fake Concerts For Rihanna, Lady Gaga & Ke$ha

Two alleged scammers purporting to be event and party promoters representing superstar artists like Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Ke$ha stole about $2 million from would-be clients who thought they were booking concerts.

Meceo McEaddy, 38 and Sylvester Vincent Carrol, 47, were charged with second-degree grand larceny and scheme to defraud. McEaddy faces additional tax-related charges. The pair took $825,000 from a Brazilian company that believed it was booking a string of concerts in Rio de Janeiro. The two also purported to be agents and other types of industry bigwigs to scam other would-be customers.

"The defendants capitalized on the popularity of three of the most famous pop stars in the world," Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said.

But the veteran Manhattan judge arraigning the crooked pair needed some schooling on the pop singers.

"Who is that?" Justice Edward McLaughlin mused, referring to Rihanna, asking the prosecutor to spell her name. He said he "actually heard about" Lady Gaga who attended the same high school as one of his relatives.
