Alicia Keys Raises $4 Million For Her "Keep A Child Alive" Charity

Alicia Keys invited her VIPs to Hammerstein Ballroom for her Keep a Child Alive Black Ball and they more than paid their way, raising $4 million to help children and families dealing with AIDS in India and South Africa. It was there that Keys, who emceed the event and performed, told Confidenti@l her 3-year-old-son, Egypt, someday might be able to hold his own on stage.

“He’s so independent. He’s extremely smart,” the proud mom said. “He plays piano, he plays drums. His rhythm is kind of impressive.”

Watched over by dad Swizz Beatz, Egypt attended the party wearing a red-and-white baseball jacket and matching Converse high-tops with his name stitched onto them. Keys went through a series of costume changes to perform her hit song “No One” and Cheryl Lynn’s 1978 disco classic “Got to Be Real.”

Her special guests included Yankee All-Star Robinson Cano, designers Diane Von Furstenberg and Tommy Hilfiger (there with his stunning wife, Dee), singer Carole King, legendary producer Clive Davis and high-rolling billionaire philanthropist Stewart Rahr, who paid $200,000 to buy two tables and then decided to match all the other donations and hand over another $2 million.

On Thursday Confidenti@l exclusively reported that Keys had visited Rahr’s Trump Tower office the previous day, where she was thought to be giving him the hard sell. Insiders tell us not even Keys knew how massive Rahr’s donation would be, which is why she called him onstage to take a bow. Singer Pharrell fittingly ended the night by performing his hit song “Get Lucky.”

Keys helped ignite Keep a Child Alive in 2003 along with KCA president Leigh Blake. The organization shares its resources with 10 clinics and orphan-care sites throughout India, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and South Africa.
