Alicia Keys heart was set on fire when she married music producer Swizz Beatz.
“I really learned what everyone meant when they said, ‘you know when you know,’ when I met my husband,” she says to kick off the second season of “Oprah’s Master Class” airing March 3 on OWN.
The 32-year-old singer and pianist is head over heels in love with Beatz, 34, her husband of nearly three years, who she describes as “bubbling over with life.”
“He’s definitely taught me a lot about freedom and a lot about spontaneity and about being open to life and how it’s going to happen,” she continues.
Keys and her husband have one son, Egypt, 2, together. If her glowing smile is any indication the “New Day” singer is happy in her family life, and her husband appears to be a major reason why.
“He’s just an incredibly crazy, spontaneous, full of life person,” Keys adds. “I’ve never met a person like him, ever.”
The Grammy-award winning performer, who recently sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, credits her man with inspiring a more impromptu side of her.
“Before I was always kind of regimented about how everything had to happen, I had to plan it out all perfect but that’s not quite life,” she describes. “That’s part of life, don’t get it wrong, you have to plan things and execute them but there’s also another part of life that’s very spontaneous, that’s very natural and it kind of unfolds and it happens to you.”
Growing up in the public eye, Keys has effortlessly made the transistion from the young, Harlem-born, rough-around-the-edges newbie to confident artist, mother and wife.
“Few of us are able to be that free,” she says of Beatz, “to just follow our light and know that it’s going to lead you where you’re meant to go.”
Remember when they use to call A. Keys a homewrecker
She just knew OK
