Adele Cried All Day After Grammy Sound Issues

British superstar Adele was rolling in the deep — depression, that is — after her botched performance at the Grammys.

The singer said she "cried pretty much all day" after technical problems undermined her otherwise dazzling rendition of "All I Ask" on music's biggest stage and left her award-winning voice sounding out of tune.

"I kept like spontaneously bursting into tears," she told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview airing Thursday on "Ellen."

The 27-year-old singer says one of the microphones inside the onstage piano fell onto its strings, making her voice sound pitchy while subtly reverberating a strange, guitar-like sound in the background.

"I wanted to tell everyone straight away because it seemed to be a lot of confusion about what it was," she continued. "I was embarrassed."

Despite the audio issues, Adele received a standing ovation from the audience onhand at Monday's Grammys.

But that didn't stop her from rushing to Twitter shortly after the award show to explain the technical glitch that occurred during her highly anticipated return to the Grammys stage for the first time since 2012.

Two days later, she vowed to DeGeneres that she'd never allow acoustical problems to hinder another one of her performances again.

"Next time I have any sound issues I am gonna stop," she said. "I'll be like, 'Sorry that's not working for me. If we have time to do it again, let's do it. Otherwise, bye!'"

Adele gets the chance to redeem herself on "Ellen," as she performs "All I Ask" for the first time since the Grammys on Thursday's episode.

The other musical performances at the Grammys — including lauded gigs by Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Jackson Browne, Pitbull and Taylor Swift — went off without a hitch.
