A BIG BAG OF BULLSH!T! THERE WAS NO DAMN CARMAGGEDON IN L.A!

Well that was easy.
After fears of massive delays and disasters in Los Angeles with so-called "Carmageddon", officials said Sunday they are so far ahead of schedule that they began opening the freeway again.

"Anything that lets us give the freeway back to the motorists is a dream come true," Judy Gish, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Transportation told Reuters.

The shutdown of the 405 Freeway for construction was dubbed "Carmageddon" because of its potential to wreck havoc on drivers in Los Angeles. But thanks to a concerted effort from celebrities and public officials to convince drivers to stay home – as well as special deals on airlines and events – drivers seemed to stay off the roads enough to avoid any major clogs.

"Carmaggedon, the biggest non-event since Y2K!" former talk show host Ricki Lake tweeted. "Let's close the 405 freeway more often."

The Los Angeles Times reported the contractor will most likely receive incentive payments for finishing the construction ahead of schedule.

"We've been very fortunate," transportation department official Mike Barbour told the Times. "A lot of things did not go wrong. It went very smoothly."

Californians even managed to have a little bit of fun with the closure.

On Saturday, a group of cyclists even organized a bike ride to race JetBlue – which offered $4 flights from Burbank to Long Beach – to see who could get there quicker.

Thanks to check-in time and security measures on the airline, the cyclists won.
