Michael Rainey Jr. achieved a significant milestone at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, Rainey Jr. took home the trophy for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his compelling performance in Power Book II: Ghost. “I’m so happy for him, the NAACP is really all we got,” 50 wrote on Instagram. “We do bigger numbers than a lot of shows but we don’t get nominated because of diversity.” In another post showing the 24-year-old’s moment, the Hip-Hop icon and TV mogul wrote, “[applause emojis] @michaelraineyjr won NAACP outstanding actor in a drama series, he is gonna be better [than] all of us. He’s focused got 2 movies in the can BOOM. Rainey Jr., who has played Tariq St. Patrick since the inception of the Power series, took to the stage to give his acceptance speech. “I’m shaking right now, not only because I’m nervous but because it’s mad cold in here,” he began in a true New York fashion. “I just want to thank my mother and my father for bringing me in this world. I’m just blessed and overjoyed and I just appreciate everybody for considering me for this award. Thank you everybody.
