Shacara McLaurin (right) was beaten by a group of fellow teens, allegedly including Aaliyah Smith (left), who used a padlock in a sock as a weapon, authorities charge.
Five Brooklyn high school girls - bent on keeping a star music student out of a talent show - smashed her in the face with a padlock inside a sock, the Daily News has learned.
"Yo, b---h. I got a lock," one of the suspects, Aaliyah Smith, barked before the brutal attack on Shacara McLaurin, a police source said.
Smith, 16, and her four pals are accused of pummeling McLaurin, 17, a Brooklyn Academy High School senior and gifted singer, outside the home of her voice coach.
In a disturbing mix of the TV show "Glee" and the movie "Mean Girls," the April 1 assault left McLaurin with six stitches near her left ear, a deep gash on her face and a bruised jaw.
"I wasn't able to open my jaw. I wasn't able to talk. I wasn't able to sing," said McLaurin.
She said one of the girls wanted to hurt her "because I sang better than her. ...It was jealousy. It was all due to the talent show."
A day before the attack, McLaurin received an ominous Facebook message saying "they were going to get her and hurt her so she wouldn't ever be able to sing again," her mother said.
The talent show, which was to be held Friday in the Marcy Ave. building housing Brooklyn Academy and Bedford-Stuyvesant Preparatory School
The attack was swift and brutal, witnesses said. The 5-foot-6 McLaurin was outside the home of her voice coach when the mean girls surrounded her.
One of the suspects started lashing her with the homemade weapon - and the others jumped in, McLaurin and witnesses said.
"I could see them hitting her and hitting her and hitting her with something," said Nikia Eddy, 22, who watched the fracas from her apartment window.
"She started out on the stoop, and you could tell she didn't want to fight, but she came down, and they fought with everybody hyping it up. She was bleeding."
McLaurin's friend, Skye West, tried to protect her, but also received a beating, authorities said.
Four of McLaurin's suspected attackers - Decory Fletcher, 16; Ashanti Garner, 17; Brittany Williams, 17; and Chazmia Morrison, 17 - were arrested near the scene. Smith was busted April 4.
The girls were charged with felony assault, menacing, weapons possession and harassment. They were released without bail.
Tensions had been simmering for several days before the beatdown as students prepped for the talent show, sources said.
A Department of Education spokeswoman said the Brooklyn Academy principal was unaware of prior incidents until hearing from McLaurin's mom on April 4.
"We take this very seriously and are looking into the matter," the spokeswoman added.
Morrison admitted being involved in the beatdown. "I did fight that day, but nothing was planned," said Morrison, a student at Bedford-Stuyvesant Preparatory School. "There was a padlock involved."
McLaurin, who says she auditioned for "American Idol" and has appeared in several African-American themed shows, said she hopes "speaking out will help others.... I've been bullied all of my life, but I've never experienced this."
