Four men were shot in the leg during a drive-by shooting on a snow-covered Bronx street Monday night, police said.
The victims were hit shortly before 6 p.m. along Townsend Ave. in Mount Eden by a shooter who fired from inside a dark-colored Honda, police said.
All four men - who were between the ages of 22 and 32 - were in stable condition at area hospitals. They are believed to have been the shooter's intended targets, a police source said.
The drive-by was not related to an earlier shooting in nearby Claremont, Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne said.
In that incident, on Teller Ave. at E. 169th St., a 28-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and arm about 5 p.m. in what police suspect was an attempted drug-related robbery, Browne said.
Following the brazen drive-by shooting last night, cops were canvassing Townsend Ave., searching snowbanks for bullet casings.
A witness who refused to give his name said he ducked inside a corner grocery when the gunfire erupted.
"I heard six shots and people screaming," the witness said. "The shots just kept coming. Kids started running."
Several residents said they don't feel safe living in the neighborhood. "People get shot for nothing around here, and it's scary," said Desiree Melegro, 34.
