IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Nicki Minaj and Juice WRLD had to cancel one of the first dates of their European tour when they ran into some show-halting technical difficulties in Slovakia.

On Friday night (Feb. 22), the rappers were sidelined by power issues at the Ondrej Nepela Arena in Bratislava. In a detailed, heartfelt message to her fans that featured video footage of her addressing her crowd at the venue, Minaj explained how she was "gutted" and "heartbroken" when it became clear that the show couldn't safely go on due to the technical constraints they were facing.

"I can’t believe my fans sometimes," she wrote on Instagram. "After waiting for hours & hours, they still tried to be understanding. Production was told the building does not have the power to facilitate my lifts (which don’t only move me below & very VERY high above the stage, but also move all our props, furniture, dancers, band, etc.), our lighting rig, fog, cryo, confetti, movies/visuals. They’d get the show powered up then the breaker would basically trip after a few mins. Juice WRLD & I waited while they did this over & over for 3 hours."

She added that safety was their biggest concern, and that she and her production crew "run the risk of someone getting hurt if we start the show & [something] malfunctions mid-show." She also mentioned that the tour would continue as planned, and that it continues Sunday night (Feb. 24) in Lodz, Poland.
