Rapper Polo G Arrested In Miami After Album Release Party

Rapper Polo G is accused of hitting a police officer and resisting arrest in Miami after an album release party, authorities said.

The Chicago-born singer, 22, whose real name is Taurus Bartlett, was arrested at 8 a.m. EDT Saturday morning, the Miami Herald reported. He was booked on five charges, including battery on a police officer, resisting arrest with violence and criminal mischief, according to Miami-Dade online court records.

Bartlett had just released his newest album “Hall of Fame” on Friday, according to The Associated Press. His single “Rapstar” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April.

According to a police report obtained by the Herald, the car Bartlett was in was pulled over around 12:30 a.m. EDT.

Police said the vehicle had blacked-out windows and the driver was asked to lower his window, WPLG reported.

“No, for what? Why do I have to lower my window for?” the driver answered, according to the police report.

According to the report, Officer Brandon Carrero allegedly got into a struggle with Bartlett, according to witnessing officer Joseph Acuna.

Carrero and Bartlett “ended up in a struggle on the ground” and while the officer was trying to handcuff Bartlett he was struck multiple times in the head, chin, forehead and cheek, the Herald reported.

The report also says Acuna saw Bartlett atop the officer, swinging his elbows and making contact with Carrero who, the report says, has “multiple injuries.” The report lists an abrasion to the right upper forehead area, chin and swollen and slightly bruised right cheek area.

According to the police report, after Bartlett was in custody he shouted at the officer, “I will kill you, I swear I will use these fists to beat the (expletive) out of you and knock your (expletive) out.”

The incident was captured on police body and public safety cameras, WTVJ reported.

Other people were also arrested, but their names were redacted on the police reports released to the media, the Herald reported. One person was charged with driving with a suspended license, no valid driver’s license, resisting an officer without violence and disorderly conduct/breach of peace, the newspaper reported.

Bartlett’s mother, Stacia Mac, posted a message on Facebook saying she had bonded out Polo G and other persons arrested.
