Drake And The Weeknd Donate Thousands To Black Lives Matter Organizations

Drake and The Weeknd made generous donations to organizations fighting for racial equality and against injustice toward the black community.

On Monday, songwriter Mustafa Ahmed, also known as Mustafa the Poet, shared on Instagram that he personally donated $400 to the National Bail Out fund, an organization that helps free those arrested while protesting the death of George Floyd.

He then called upon his “Toronto Kings” — Drake and The Weeknd — to match his donation, but asked them to “add 3 zeroes.”

Drake, 33, reposted the call-out on his Instagram Stories and said, “Say less brother.” The “God’s Plan” rapper then shared a receipt that showed he donated $100,000 to National Bail Out.

The Weeknd, 30, also accepted the request, and gave additional donations to two other organizations.

The “Blinding Lights” singer showed a receipt for $100,000 to the National Bail Out fund, and donated an additional $200,000 to the Black Lives Matter Global Network.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, also gave $200,000 to Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp, for a total of $500,000 in donations.

“Keep supporting our brothers and sisters out there risking everything to push for actual change for our black lives,” he captioned pictures of the receipts on Instagram. “Urging everyone with big pockets to give and give big and if you have less please give what you can even if it’s a small amount.”
