Drake Streamed Over 4.7 Billion Times In 2016 On Spotify

Drake has been on a tear this year, and it doesn’t look like the Toronto native will slow down anytime soon. He can add Spotify’s most streamed artist of 2016 to his list of accolades, racking up over 4.7 billion streams to take home the crown. This more than doubles his 2015 streaming total of 1.8 billion, thanks to “One Dance” and VIEWS, as they were the most streamed project and single of the year.

“One Dance” is now up to 970 million plays on the popular streaming service, passing Mike Posner’s “I Took A Pill In Ibiza,” which landed in second place. The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down,” Rihanna and Drake’s “Work” and Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” follows consecutively thereafter.

After the Take Care artist, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, and Kanye West round out Spotify’s top five artists of the year. The most streamed projects following Views are Bieber’s Purpose, Rihanna’s ANTI, Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface, and The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness.

The 30-year-old is also Spotify’s most streamed artist ever, amassing nearly 9 billion in total. The grind doesn’t stop for Drake, as his music was a mainstay on the radio airwaves this year.
