Tyrese Blames ‘Psych Meds’ For Online Meltdown

Tyrese Gibson has apologized for his “complete” meltdown and blamed the incident on prescription drugs.

“I want you guys to know that to this day I don’t drink, smoke or on any level do I do drugs,” he said in a long Instagram rant on Saturday. “Because of this high stress and very traumatic experience I was advised then ultimately connected with multiple therapist[s] and psychiatrist[s] I had a few private meetings and these were the psych drugs that was suggested and this is the reason I had a complete meltdown online,” he continued in the caption underneath a photo of the medication he was apparently taking.

The 38-year-old singer, who has been embroiled in a custody battle with ex Norma Gibson over their daughter Shayla, claims he’s gotten rid of the drugs and his mind is clear.

“This sh-t is completely out of my system,” he wrote. “I flushed these psych meds Down the toilet and I’m already back at 100% – please don’t chalk this up as “oversharing” a lot of people were effected by what these psych meds did to me over these last 2 months and this is my public apology I’m so very sorry guys.”

Gibson appeared to be referring to an emotional Instagram video captured by TMZ, in which he broke down in tears over his ongoing legal and family issues. In the video he begged his ex to drop her pursuit of a restraining order and wailed about his love for his daughter.

“Don’t take my baby,” Tyrese said while wearing a sweatshirt that read “Shayla Rocks.” “Please don’t take my baby,” he sobbed. “This is all I got.”

Since Tyrese’s Instagram breakdown, an investigation of child abuse was dropped, but he was later accused of skipping court-approved visits with his daughter.

Tyrese insists that his post revealing his prescription drug use will show his “transparency,” and he even offers prayers to others who use.

“This will NOT compromise my case…. This is transparency and honesty and more of a heads up “don’t let folks suggest drugs especially psychiatric meds we all you need is to be still and and preset in the Lord and he will deal with your fights and reality”. Praying for you guys……..”
