Terrence Howard And Taraji P. Henson Share Awkward Kiss At The Emmys

Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson had an awkward exchange that culminated in an uncomfortable kiss while presenting at the Emmys last night.

After arriving on stage the “Empire” co-stars began reading their scripted intro.

"Now there are some similarities between who we are in real life and who we play in TV," Howard said before turning to his on-screen ex-wife.

"Yes, in real life Terrence is a self-taught musician," Henson intoned before he interrupted to audibly scoff at her pronunciation of “musician.”

"You make me nervous," she exclaimed. Then seconds later the 46-year-old actor screwed up his own line: "And Taraji is a dynamic force of nature who has the ability to steal the scenes or the words right out of your mind…sometimes out of your mouth too," he corrected himself.

Howard then jumped to the nominations but the awkwardness continued.

While presenting their second award he stopped Henson mid-sentence and proceeded to plant a kiss on her cheek. Henson seemed surprised and blurted out, "Aww," and then wiped her cheek and rolled her eyes as Howard finally read the winner's name.

Howard also confused people by turning up to Sunday’s award show with his ex-wife Mira Pak, despite secretly divorcing her earlier this year. The couple who had a son named Qirin in the spring appeared like a happily married couple on the red carpet. They met in 2013 when he approached her at a restaurant and were married three weeks later.

The pair separated in the middle of last year and they were divorced last month. In court documents Pak stated that hadn't lived with Howard since August 2014.

It's not the first time Howard has had on-again off-again relationships with a spouse. He was married to his first wife in 1989, divorced in 2003, remarried in 2005, and divorced again in 2007.

Howard told Rolling Stone magazine during a bizarre interview that his Fox paychecks for playing Luscious Lyon in "Empire" are going straight to his ex-wife, Michelle Ghent.

"All my checks from Fox are being held for garnishment, because of my ex. I'm broke as can be," he said. "I'm suffering. There's nothing worse than being a broke movie star."
