Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrested In New York On Outstanding Warrant

Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested in the Big Apple on Wednesday for an outstanding warrant related to a mall attack on a 16-year-old, cops said.

Tekashi was taken into custody at JFK Airport just moments after returning home from his European tour, according to police.

He is accused of choking a teen at The Galleria mall in Houston, after the boy began recording him with his cellphone. Footage of the incident later surfaced on social media.

“Delete the video,” Tekashi can be heard telling the teen in Spanish.

The 22-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was charged with misdemeanor assault for the incident, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Prosecutors claimed in court documents that he grabbed the teen “by the neck, causing small scratch marks and pain” — while his “bodyguards began to surround him in an intimidating way, also yelling at him.”

A judge later signed off on misdemeanor assault charges and ordered 6ix9ine’s arrest. He was arraigned in Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon for the outstanding warrant and is expected to be extradited back to Texas.

The flamboyant lyricist is not out of hot water yet, though.

6ix9ine had been scheduled to go before a Brooklyn judge on Wednesday for assaulting a cop inside the 77th Precinct station house back in May, but was unable to do so on account of his arrest at JFK. He was brought in by officers for aggravated unlicensed operation after being pulled over with a suspended license.

While his handcuffs were being taken off, 6ix9ine allegedly grabbed an officer by the hand and “squeezed” — causing “pain and swelling,” a police spokesman said.

He was later charged with assault, attempted assault, menacing and obstructing governmental administration. His lawyer claimed in court Wednesday that the rapper came to New York to face the music.

“It’s ironic he finds him himself in this situation,” said attorney Ian Niles, “because he was arrested coming back from Europe to appear in court.”

6ix9ine had every intention of surrendering to Texas authorities once his tour ended, Niles added.

“This is a misdemeanor case out of Texas,” he said. “[6ix9ine] will be in great danger because of his fame if he’s incarcerated.”

The heavily tattooed hip-hop artist, who is also famous for his rainbow-colored hair, has been no stranger to controversy.

In 2015, 6ix9ine pleaded guilty in New York Supreme Court to three felony counts of the use of a child in a sexual performance after videos of the hookup were posted online. The rapper, however, has denied the allegations despite his guilty plea.
