IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

RIHANNA'S FIRST INTERVIEW SINCE CHRIS BROWN'S ASSAULT IS WITH DIANE SAWYER! WILL AIR THIS WEEK ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA & 20/20!

Rihanna is finally ready to sing.

The songbird has granted her first interviews since the February assault by then-boyfriend Chris Brown in a pair of appearances on "Good Morning America" and "20-20" this week.

"Now, for the very first time, Rihanna tells HER story," teases the ABC promo over shots of sultry singer performing on stage.

While the "Break It Off" singer has chosen to lie low in the wake of the incident, Brown has appeared on both "Larry King Live" and Angie Martinez's radio show since his conviction for felony assault, although he hasn't spilled any details about what happened that night.

Brown was sentenced to five years of probation, 180 days of community labor and a year of mandatory domestic violence counseling for attacking the Barbados-born beauty just before the Grammy Awards.

Rihanna has bounced back, moving forward with her career and collaborating with Jay-Z and Kanye West on the Billboard Hot 100 hit "Run This Town." "Wait Your Turn," a new song from her upcoming album "Rated R," hit the web this weekend. It's in keeping with the darker tone of the album's first official single, "Russian Roulette," the lyrics of which hint at an abusive relationship. Her new album is due out November 23.

The singer is expected to reveal the inspiration behind her serious new sound in the upcoming TV spots, on "Good Morning America," this Thursday at 7 a.m., and in a "20-20" primetime special on Friday at 10 p.m.
