Pras Michel Tried To Hide Money To Reduce Child Support

Ex-Fugees rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel used a “complex web of shell companies” to hide his money in a bid to get his child-support payments lowered, his ex-wife’s lawyer claimed in court Tuesday.

Michel asked a court to reduce his payments to ex Angela Severiano for their son Landon, currently set at $4,800, claiming the feds seized his money when he was charged in May with campaign-finance violations.

But Severiano’s lawyer, Robert Wallack, said in Manhattan Family court Tuesday that he discovered a bank account for a company Michel alone owned.

“And, approximately $1 million dollars flowed into and out of this account over a six month period ending in September, just two months ago,” he said.

“We found that Pras uses a complex web of shell companies to mask his true financial resources. What we uncovered was not only astonishing, but it proved that everything Pras has told this Court was a lie,” the lawyer claimed.

Wallack motioned to have Michel pay $60,000 in attorney’s fees that Severiano has incurred — and later told The Post his client is also owed nearly $125,000 in child-support and other costs — a figure which Michel’s rep confirmed.

Michel was in Haiti Tuesday for a death in the family, the judge said, adding she would rule on the motion by the end of the year.

Michel’s rep, Darrell Johnson, said, “the government has tied up $1 billion of his money,” adding that he assured Wallack, “We would commit to catching up on payments once the money is released. He has no problem with attorney’s fees.”

“He loves his child and he has no problem with Angela right now. He doesn’t have the money. We have an agreement to make a payment in January,” Johnson added.

Johnson said that the money that Wallack discovered is from Michel’s business.

“He is not authorized to pay child support from his business,” Johnson said. “He still had business money. That had nothing to do with his personal earnings.”

Michel was criminally charged for allegedly working with fugitive Malaysian playboy Jho Low in a campaign-finance scheme tied to President Obama’s 2012 re-election.

A federal civil case also accused Michel of conspiring with an ex-DOJ official to thwart the US probe into Low.

Johnson said Michel denies all the allegations against him in those cases.
