IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Things have gotten off to a rocky start for OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Stemming from the result of low ratings, the network head, Christina Norman, abruptly left the 4-month-old channel.

OWN announced on Friday that Peter Liguori, the chief operating officer for Discovery Communications, will take over the position on an interim basis.

Winfrey said she and Liguori will continue searching for a permanent CEO for the network's “next phase of growth.”

The long-time talk show host also added that she will focus completely on growing the Oprah Winfrey Network once her syndicated talk show ends later this month.

OWN premiered on January 1st, and is jointly owned by Winfrey's Harpo, Inc. and Discovery.

Norman's exit was rumored for months. She is the former president of MTV, and started at OWN in Jan. 2009.
