OMAROSA'S BROTHER GOT SHOT & KILLED!

Omarosa Manigault, who many know from her appearance as a hard-nosed and business-minded competitor on "The Apprentice," is playing a new role this week -- grieving sister.

Manigault's brother, 40-year-old Jack Manigault, was killed Sunday after an intruder broke into his Youngstown, Ohio, home and shot him dead.

In a statement, Omarosa, 38, said, "We thank everyone for their amazing outpouring of support surrounding the tragic death of my brother Jack. ... Right now it is an extremely difficult time and we ask that you allow family privacy to grieve and make all necessary arrangements."

A local newspaper, The Vindicator, reported that the gunman was 22-year-old Marco Cardenas, a former boyfriend of Jack's girlfriend.

The couple was asleep when Cardenas, currently on probation related to a breaking-and-entering conviction, broke into their home in the early hours of the morning.

The shooter allegedly pushed past Jack's girlfriend's two children and made his way into the bedroom where he shot Jack, who staggered out of the room and eventually collapsed.

Cardenas reportedly hit the girlfriend in the head with his gun and attempted to shoot Jack once more before the children forced him from the house.

Jack had his share of trouble in the past as well.

In 1999, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for aggravated assault. He had also been arrested for drug possession and a variety of weapons charges, and in 2003 was convicted of obstructing official business.

His family said that he had recently turned his life around.

In the statement, Omarosa said, "My brother was so special to us! We loved him unconditionally and we were so proud of him when he turned his life around and gave his life to God two years ago."
