England soccer star Wayne Rooney decided to throw his hat in the ring for goal of the year Saturday.
The Internet is buzzing after Rooney's stunning bicycle kick goal helped lead Manchester United to a 2-1 win over Premier League rival Manchester City at Old Trafford.

In the 77th minute, Rooney - who had scored only five times all season for United - took to the air and delivered Nani's right-wing cross into the top corner of the net as City keeper Joe Hart watched helplessly from his spot.

Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash took to Twitter looking to check out the goal.

"Anyone got a link to Wayne Rooney's goal today? Heard it was insane," Nash tweeted.

Yes it was. Although links were going viral Saturday morning, most clips of Rooney's masterpiece on YouTube have already been blocked on copyright grounds (but we think we have a working version below).

But that hasn't stopped the web chatter.

ESPN's Bob Ley tweeted: "No matter how good a day you have, it won't be better than Wayne Rooney's."

Even "Saturday Night Live" head writer Seth Meyers weighed in: "If you like the idea of Wayne Rooney scoring a bicycle-kick winning goal, good news!"
