Meek Mill Claims Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Him Has Racist Undertones

Meek Mill and Live Nation are firing back at allegations that they are responsible for deaths that occurred at one of the rapper’s shows, claiming that the suit filed against them has racist undertones.

As previously reported, last December, a Meek Mill show at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, Conn., ended in gunfire when four people were shot, leaving two people dead and two others injured. At the time, Meek didn’t seem to believe the severity of the situation. “They really trying to slow these bags up, right,” the Philly rapper said in a video posted to social media. “Looking at this shit about two people died, two people got shot. A lie. Somebody hating, trying to slow these bags up.”

Unfortunately, two people indeed lost their lives that night. And in May, the family of one of the victims, Travis Ward, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the MMG MC, claiming his violent lyrics lead to the shooting.

According to TMZ, Meek and Live Nation have now filed their own court documents, alleging the lawsuit against them is laced with racism, with the use of words like “thugs” being brought into question. Joel Faxon, the plaintiff’s attorney, tells the celebrity gossip site he’s confident, “the families of those shot at the concert agree Mr. Mill meets the definition of a thug.” The family is suing for unspecified damages.

Meek recently dodged some other legal issues. After being arrested in New York City on charges of reckless endangerment, prosecutors have decided not to charge the Dreamchasers rapper.
