Mariah Carey's soon going to have her hands full!

The diva, who's about to give birth to twins any day now, has signed on to take part in Simon Cowell's brand new FOX singing competition show, "The X Factor."

Although Carey had long been rumored to be a judge on the program -- which originated in Britain and will make its American debut this fall -- Cowell says her role has been modified due to her pregnancy.

"Her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah can come up with," Cowell told radio host Jackie Brown on her 92.9ZZU show. "She'll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits."

Last month, Cowell said that the first judge on "The X Factor" panel was record executive L.A. Reid, who's known for discovering Usher and P!nk.

Until the show's remaining judges are picked -- Jessica Simpson has been in the running -- open auditions are being held nationwide. Solo artists and vocal groups over 12 can audition in Seattle, Chicago and Dallas this spring.

The winner will receive a $5 million dollar recording contract with Cowell's Syco/Sony Music imprint.
