Mariah Carey Blames Technical Difficulties For New Year’s Eve Performance

Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve lip-syncing flub can apparently all be blamed on technical difficulties.

The singer’s unfortunate Times Square disaster all came down to defective equipment, according to TMZ.

Carey’s ugly performance came to a screeching halt when the singer finally gave up on mouthing along to her hits.

“It just don’t get any better,” she said before leaving the stage.

Before the show, Carey reportedly complained to executives from Dick Clark Productions that she couldn’t hear anything.

Even after changing mic packs over a dead battery, she continued saying she couldn’t hear.

Her on-stage prompter with lyrics wasn’t working either, according to TMZ.

"Unfortunately there was nothing she could do to continue with the performance given the circumstances,” spokeswoman Nicole Perna said in a statement.

Carey followed up her on-stage debacle with a light-hearted tweet early Sunday morning.

“S--t happens,” she wrote. “Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! Here’s to making more headlines in 2017.”
