LAURYN HILL RETURNS TO BILLBOARD CHART WITH REPERCUSSIONS!

Former Fugees member, Lauryn Hill has found her way back to Billboard's Hot 100 Chart with her new song “Repercussions”. Last month (July), the song “Repercussions” leaked onto the internet and fans were racking their brain to figure out if the song was new, recently recorded material. Debuting last week at #94 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart, “Repercussions” marks the first time Lauryn Hill has been on the chart since she was featured on Method Man's "Say", which peaked at #66 in 2005. The last time Lauryn Hill appeared on the chart solo was in 1999 with "Turn Your Lights Down Low" featuring the great Bob Marley. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Lauryn Hill's last album, was released over 12 years ago in 1998 and fans are excited about her return.

Lauryn Hill doesn’t mind leaving her youngest daughter.

The star — who is the mother of five children with Rohan Marley, the fourth son of reggae musician Bob Marley — says she feels comfortable being away from her family.

“I don’t know if you know this, but I have five children,” she said. “The youngest is 2 now, so she’s old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she’s going to be OK. That’s one reason I’m starting to perform again.

“And I think it’s just time. I’m starting to get excited again. Believe it or not, I think what people are attracted to about me, if anything, is my passion. People got exposed to my passion through music and song first. I think people might realize, you know, ‘We love the way she sounds, we love the music, but I think we just love how fearless she is. How boundless she is, when it comes to what she wants to do.’ And I think that can be infectious.”

Hill — who has been out of the public eye since 2008, following a series of poorly received performances and canceled shows — recently explained her hiatus from the music industry.

“There were a number of different reasons [why I left music],” she said earlier this year.

“The support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it.

“The machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who produce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of society… And it’s important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow…”
