IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

This has not been Cheryl Cole's week.

Just days after the British pop singer was axed from Simon Cowell's "The X Factor" because Fox thought her accent was too thick, she's now been replaced again -- this time on the U.K. version of the same singing competition.

Former Destiny's Child member, Kelly Rowland, has been confirmed as a judge on the Brit show after TV executives offered the job to Cole, and she never returned their phone calls.

"You can't exactly negotiate with someone who won't even speak to you," a source from the show told The Daily Mail.

Cole's inclusion on the American version of "The X Factor" was a role that was difficult for her from the start.

As soon as she was hired, the former Girls Aloud singer -- who gained weight after battling malaria last year -- was instructed to lose "two stones" (28 pounds) before being introduced to American audiences, according to The Daily Mail.

She enlisted Gwyneth Paltrow's trainer, Tracy Anderson, to shed the weight, but when she showed up to film "The X Factor," it appeared she hadn't lost as much as had been requested.

Cole was reportedly also instructed to dump her boyfriend, "Dancing With the Stars" pro Derek Hough.

"If she's going to win over Hollywood, she'd be better off doing it as a sassy and single girl-about-town," a source told The Mirror. "Show producers have told her that being single would do wonders for her image."
