Judge Blocks Airing Of Bobbi Kristina Brown Biopic

Parties suing to block next month’s release of a biopic about the tragic death of Bobbi Kristina Brown have been ordered to appear in court later this month to argue their case.

Brown’s father, Bobby Brown, filed a suit in early September trying to halt the film, claiming “Bobbi Kristina” falsely paints him as a bad dad who also battered his late ex-wife and Bobbi’s mother, superstar Whitney Houston.

The parties are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 29, at which point the judge will decide if he intends to grant a temporary order barring the release of the work.

Brown’s suit, which asks the judge permanently stop the making of the film, says the company did not get his permission or the permission of his daughter’s estate to use their likenesses in a film.

The 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious by her boyfriend Nick Gordon in a bathtub in January 2015. She was pronounced dead in July, and the cause of death remained unclear.

Her estate has since joined to the suit to stop the movie.

The elder Brown initially was suing for $1 million but the amended lawsuit seeks $2 million.
