Jay Z To Headline Concert In Cleveland To Support Hillary Clinton

He may have an "Empire State of Mind," but Jay Z is trekking to Ohio to garner support in the swing state for Hillary Clinton.

The hip-hop mogul is slated to headline a concert promoting the Democratic presidential candidate in Cleveland before next month's election in an effort to encourage citizens to vote, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The date and venue for the rapper's gig has not been announced. The upcoming performance will be directed toward rallying young black voters in the city, according to Buzzfeed.

Jay Z, 45, has a history of supporting the Democratic party, as he and Bruce Springsteen starred in a similar concert in Columbus alongside President Obama the night before the election in 2012.

At that performance, Jay Z notably changed the lyrics of his hit song "99 Problems" to take a dig at Obama's opponent, Mitt Romney.

"I got 99 problems, but Mitt ain't one," he declared at the time.

Jay Z might not be the only household name to show his support for Clinton at the forthcoming concert. It wouldn't be surprising if Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James made an appearance too, a Democratic insider told Buzzfeed.

James recently endorsed Clinton with an editorial piece for Business Insider.

"I support Hillary because she will build on the legacy of my good friend, President Barack Obama," the three-time NBA champion wrote, never mentioning Donald Trump. "I believe in what President Obama has done for our country and support her commitment to continuing that legacy."

Jay Z and his wife Beyoncé, meanwhile, have showed support for Clinton in the months leading up to the election and recently chatted with Bill Clinton at the rapper's "Made in America" music festival.

In a similar effort to promote Clinton in another swing state, Jennifer Lopez will hold a concert in Miami on Oct. 29.
