Idris Elba Responds To Cardi B Saying Celebs Are Being Paid To Say They Have Coronavirus

Idris Elba is slamming the notion that celebrities like Tom Hanks, Kevin Durant and Andy Cohen are being paid to claim they have contracted the coronavirus, a conspiracy brought further into the public eye following a recent Instagram post by Cardi B.

Elba, 47, debunked the theory during an Instagram Live session with his wife, Sabrina Dhowre. The “Hobbes and Shaw” actor tested positive for coronavirus on March 16 while Dhowre tested positive six days later.

“This idea that someone like myself is going to be paid to say I have coronavirus, that’s like, absolute bulls–t,” Elba remarked. The “Luther” actor made no reference to Cardi B’s post during his broadcast.

“It’s stupid. It’s the quickest way to … get people sick,” Elba noted. “There’s no benefit to me and Sabrina sitting here saying we got it, and we ain’t got it.”

Cardi — who made no reference to Elba or any other celebrity directly — stated in an Instagram Live post she believed celebs could possibly be getting paid to tell the public they have coronavirus.
