Havoc Says He Was Shocked By Prodigy's Death

The other half of Mobb Deep didn't initially believe news that his longtime partner Prodigy had died — and was absolutely devastated when he learned it was true.

Kejuan (Havoc) Muchita — who formed the Queens hip hop duo with Albert (Prodigy) Johnson in the early '90s — chalked it up as a "weird rumor" when he got the call that his close friend had died, because he'd been in and out of hospitals throughout his life with his sickle cell anemia.

But Havoc went ahead and called their road manager for some peace of mind — and immediately broke down after finding out Prodigy had actually passed away.

"The road manager was just crying like I never heard before and I just had to hang up the phone," Havoc told TMZ.

"I'm on a highway, I can't pull over, I can't do nothing. I could have crashed with my kids in the car ... I'm still just f---ed up," he said.

Havoc, who was driving home from his son's kindergarten graduation when he heard the news, had been with Prodigy in Las Vegas days earlier and was aware the rapper had checked into the hospital.

But he'd checked in with Prodigy during his hospital stay, and heard the rapper was getting better.

Prodigy died Tuesday at the age of 42. A rep for the artist confirmed he has hospitalized due to complications from sickle cell, but said a cause of death has not been determined.

Havoc's conversation with TMZ marks the first time Havoc has spoken out about his close friend's death.

He posted two Instagram photos featuring Prodigy shortly after his death on Tuesday, including a shot of the duo captioned "Forever."

Prodigy and Havoc released eight studio albums together as Mobb Deep, most recently 2014's "The Infamous Mobb Deep." They had been scheduled to perform together in Newark, N.J., on June 30.

Havoc said he's still too devastated to even reflect on certain mementos from their relationship.

"I can't even listen to 'Shook Ones' or any songs," he said. "I can hardly look at the pictures."
