Frank Ocean Fails To Release New Album After Hinting It Was Coming In July

R&B star Frank Ocean struck a major sour note with fans Sunday when he failed to release his highly anticipated album once again.

The 28-year-old crooner seemed to hint at the beginning of the month that the record, widely expected to be called "Boys Don't Cry," was coming when he shared an Instagram image of a piece of paper that read "Due Date" leading up to the words "July 2016."

"BOYS DON'T CRY #JULY2016," he captioned the enigmatic message.

But when the clock struck midnight early Monday morning, Ocean still hadn't dropped the album — leaving a slew of fans irate.

"It's officially August 1st, which means Frank Ocean has officially broken my heart and lied to me," wrote Twitter user Camden Scott. "I'm going to have major trust issues now."

Others were even angrier, with one fan claiming they were finished waiting around for the artist to fulfill his promise.

"Frank said his album was dropping in July and guess what it's August and there's no album I am done with frank ocean," opined @sinamonroll.

It's hardly the first time Ocean has caused dis-chord within his fan base after putting off an album release.

He was originally expected to drop his new LP in July 2015, but it never came. The following March, the producer of his previous album teased to Pitchfork that it was "maybe a month away," but again, that deadline passed.

Ocean did, however, give fans some hope Monday that the album was on its way when a mysterious live stream video with Apple Music logo appeared on his website.

There hasn't been much activity on the stream, though, as it has remained fixated on a black and white room with a pair of work benches.

An unidentified figure has since appeared in the room and classical music has played, but little else has happened so far.
