IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Drake Has Been On The Billboard Hot 100 Chart For Eight Straight Years

So it turns out Drake‘s winning a record 13 trophies at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards was in no way coincidence. Yesterday (May 23), it was revealed that Drizzy has had a song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the last eight consecutive years, making him the first ever artist to do so.

Drizzy’s “Best I Ever Had” earned him his first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on May 23, 2009, and as of yesterday (May 23), he’s maintained that streak, and quite easily at that. Looked at in another way, Drizzy’s been on the chart for almost exactly 3,000 days now. According to Billboard, he’s now been on the chart for 420 weeks. You read that right.

During a career that sort of feels like it just started yesterday, 20 of Drake’s songs have landed in the top 10 portion of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, which makes him one of only 18 artists accomplishing that distinction over the last 58 years. Drizzy’s got 154 Hot 100-charting singles in total.

Drake’s winning ways don’t look like they’ll be coming to an end any time soon, either. As of today, he’s still got three tracks on the Billboard Hot 100, including his More Life cuts “Passionfruit” (No. 21), and the Quavo and Travis Scott-assisted “Portland,” (No. 58), and Gucci Mane’s “Both.”
