Drake Blames Kanye West For His Beef With Pusha-T

Drake opened up about his beef with Pusha-T and Kanye West, fatherhood, and more during an eye-opening interview with LeBron James and Maverick Carter that aired Friday night (Oct. 12) on the new HBO Sports series The Shop.

The interview, which plays out more as a casual conversation, opens with James and Drake discussing the challenges of growing up in a broken home and segues into how the rapper wants to raise his own son with a positive attitude about his mother.

"I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, you know, we've had our moments, right. I do want to be able to explain to my son what happened, but I don't have any desire for him to not love his mom," Drake explains. "We found ourselves in a situation and we are both equally responsible. Now I'm just really excited to be a great father.”

The most interesting part of the conversation comes when Drake goes on to tell the detailed story of his messy feud with Pusha-T and West, which he describes as "a hell of a chess move" that went way too far. The Toronto MC says he ultimately blames West for inciting Pusha-T's "Infrared" and "The Story of Adidon” diss tracks, the latter of which exposed that Drizzy fathered a secret child with an adult film star.

"I knew something was gonna come up about my kid. They had to add the deadbeat dad thing to make it more appealing," Drake says, adding that he was more infuriated about "wishing death upon" his producer Noah “40” Shebib, who has multiple sclerosis.

Drake responded to Pusha's West-produced diss track "Infrared" -- where Pusha accuses the 6 God of using a ghostwriter -- with "Duppy Freestyle." Drake had another response to "The Story of Adidon” ready to go, but ultimately decided to hold off on its release because the track laced with "terrible things" about Pusha and West.

Drake claims the feud started after he told West private information about his "secret" son and plans to release his chart-topping Scorpion album while working with Ye during a a recording session in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

“I’m in Wyoming. I play him ‘March 14.’ I send him a picture of my son. I tell him I’m having trouble with my son’s mother,” says Drake, who planned on revealing that he had a son on the "March 14" track.

Drake says he believes West intentionally planned to drop G.O.O.D. Music's five recent releases -- from Pusha-T, West, Nas, Kids See Ghosts, and Teyana Taylor -- to coincide with the release of Scorpion.
