Domestic Battery Charges Against Nick Gordon Dropped

More than two months after Nick Gordon was jailed on domestic battery charges involving girlfriend Laura Leal, the charges have been dropped.

Florida prosecutors said they have opted not to try the case against Gordon, 28, after Leal “became unhappy with the criminal justice process” and “repeatedly demanded” that they stop going after Gordon, according to the State Attorney’s office. Leal also wrote a letter to the judge on the case requesting that it get dropped.

Because Leal, 26, became uncooperative, the lead prosecutor on the case ultimately determined that it couldn’t go to trial, according to the State Attorney’s office. The office also learned that Gordon had successfully undergone a four-hour anger management course as well as a four-hour alcohol and substance abuse course.

Police jailed Gordon after Leal accused him of punching and hitting her and refusing to let her leave his home in Sanford, Florida.

Gordon’s domestic battery bust came less than a year after he was found legally responsible for the 2015 death of former girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown.
