IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

DMX is a free man again.

The “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” singer, 48, was released from Gilmer Federal Correctional Institution in West Virginia on Friday morning, according to TMZ.

X, whose real name is Earl Simmons, had been in the prison serving nearly a year for tax evasion. He was sentenced by a federal judge last March, and ordered to pay $2.3 million in restitution.

TMZ reported he must now enter outpatient programs for substance abuse and mental health.

At the time of his sentencing, the rapper claimed to not realize how serious his crime was and apologized for other run-ins with the law, saying, “I was in a cloud. I was in a cloud. I wasn’t thinking straight.”

Now that he’s out of prison, X plans to release a new album.

The rapper would like another chance to appear on Iyanla Vanzant’s “Fix My Life.” He infamously stormed off set while appearing on the show in 2013.
