Carley Perloff invites listeners on a journey of self-discovery
with new EP ‘Lost’
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Carley Perloff is a young artist from the East Coast whose music is the stuffthat only comes around once in a generation.
One part pop, one part rock, and all originality – Carley’s sound and style is like a breath of freshair in a music industry that is saturated with similarity. This singer/songwriter has found a lanethat will have fans jamming with her new music, and smiling from ear-to-ear with her lyrics. And at the end of the day, that’s what she hopes her music is all about – making people happy.
“I definitely want my music to be something that everybody can listen to, no matter who you listen to normally,” she said. “More than that, though, I want it to unify and help people. I want it to inspire people to stop the world from being the way it is. I can’t stand it. I want my music to stand for unification and happiness and bringing people together. There’s too much hate in the world, and my music is intended to create a unified vibe of happiness and togetherness and partying and hanging out and just having a good time.”
Perloff is currently attending school at Temple University in Philadelphia where she’s studying media studies and production (with an audio concentration) and a minor in business. Her true passion is making music, and when she isn’t in class or studying, she’s sitting with her guitar and writing new lyrics.
Self-described as an “open book,” Perloff said she prides herself on being honest and true with all of her music. And though she doesn’t hesitate to point out that her most recent singles are all pop crossovers – from rock to jazz to ballads – she also admits that she’s still on a journey to discover her unique sound and style. And she isn’t afraid to admit to her fans that she’s still on a journey of self-discovery.
“I love the fact that I’m not set on a specific sound,” she said. “I’m trying to find myself, and you can come on the journey with me. I’m lost in my life and trying to find who I am, and my sound captures that. I think it’s cool that my album doesn’t have a uniform sound – because I’m lost and I’m trying to find myself, and I want to engage with my fans in that way and ask them to come along with me to find my sound. I don’t know who I am yet and I’m not ashamed to say it. I’m trying to figure it out, and my music is all about that journey. And because of that you get my heart and soul in all of my music. It really describes what I’m going through in my life at the time, and I think people can relate to it – especially people my age.”
That journey is put on full display with Perloff’s new EP, “Lost,” which is currently available on all digital distribution sites. It features seven tracks, three of which are acoustic, and all of which are transparent with her emotions, feelings and thoughts. She said she’s extremely excited to be releasing the EP because it’s the culmination of a lot of hard work and perfecting songs in the studio, and also because it’s a great indication of what’s in store in the future. As she continues to find ways to make her sound even better, she hopes that fans will enjoy this EP and know that there’s still more to come.
