Cardi B Ties Iggy Azalea For Most Career Weeks At No. 1 On Billboard Hot 100

Cardi B matches Iggy Azalea for the most career weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 among female rappers, as both MCs have now spent seven weeks at the chart's summit in their careers.

As previously reported, Maroon 5's "Girls Like You," featuring Cardi B, logs a third week at No. 1 (on the chart dated Oct. 13). Cardi B previously led for a week in July with "I Like It," with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, and for three weeks in October 2017 with her debut hit, "Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)."

Azalea earned her seven weeks atop the Hot 100 all courtesy of her debut smash "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, in 2014. (Thus, she notched all her weeks at No. 1 as a lead act; Cardi B has spent four of her seven weeks at No. 1 as a lead.)

Beyond Cardi B and Azalea (whose upcoming tour has been canceled), three other female rappers have ruled the Hot 100: Lauryn Hill's first solo Hot 100 entry (apart from the Fugees), "Doo Wop (That Thing)," led for two weeks beginning with its Nov. 14, 1998, debut at No. 1; Lil' Kim reigned for five weeks in 2001, with Christina Aguilera, Mya and P!nk, on "Lady Marmalade"; and, Shawnna topped the chart as featured on Ludacris' "Stand Up," which topped the Dec. 6, 2003, tally.

The stat about Cardi B and Azalea's achievements is courtesy of insightful chart-watcher Jake Rivera, who has more: another week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for "Girls" would not only replace "Bodak Yellow" as Cardi B's longest-running No. 1, it would also tie "Moves Like Jagger" (featuring Aguilera), in 2011, as Maroon 5's second-longest, after "One More Night," which led for nine weeks in 2012. Of the group's four No. 1s, "Girls" is now tied with first leader "Makes Me Wonder," which spent three weeks on top in 2007.

Meanwhile, Cardi B collects her first No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs, as DJ Snake's "Taki Taki," on which she's featured with Selena Gomez and Ozuna, launches atop the survey.
