IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Network upkeep left many BlackBerry users unable to send or receive emails from Friday night into Saturday.

Research in Motion, the manufacturer of the popular smartphone, acknowledged on its official Twitter account yesterday morning that its system was down. "BIS email delivery was delayed this morning in [North America] due to system maintenance," the Twitter post said. "Service is now being restored. We apologize for any inconvenience."

Verizon Wireless also announced on its Twitter account that there were problems with email flow, but the network was up and running again. "This morning's RIM email issue 100% over," it wrote. "All BlackBerry users on all wireless companies should be back up. Apologies!"

THANK GOD! CAUSE I'M ON BBM ALL DAY!
